What is low-carbon steel?
XCarb® is ArcelorMittal’s decarbonization program—Europe’s largest steel producer. It covers technologies and products with a reduced carbon footprint, including in particular:
XCarb® Green Steel Certificates
(Green Steel Certificates)
- confirm real CO₂ savings in steelmaking processes,
- enable customers to report emissions reductions (Scope 3 – Purchased Goods),
- independent DNV audits verify the actual savings,
- certificates can be purchased together with any steel product.
XCarb® Recycled Produced steel
(Recycled Produced steel)
- produced in EAF electric arc furnaces using 100% renewable electricity,
- based largely on scrap (secondary cycle),
- features a very low carbon footprint,
- its environmental performance is confirmed by EPDs.
